Just a few weeks till the 2009 Winter Racing Carnival kicks off in Brisbane.

There'll be a couple of plane-loads of NZ raiders coming across, and already several of the southern stables are announcing plans to bring horses north for the winter.

With a bit of luck, the locals can repel the raiders so that some of the dollars will stay in the Sunshine State. thumbsup

Did hear somewhere that crowd favourite Apache cat will be here to defend his 10,000 crown.

Also last start Adelaide winner Diplomatic Force.

Press reports suggests it's more likely than not we'll be seeing The Cat at Doomben again. Thumb Up

Wonder will The Jackal be kept in train following Sydney?

Tuesday, 24 March 2009: Classy performer Rockpecker is having a brief let up before heading to Queensland for the Stradbroke Handicap in June.

He finished a brave fourth in last week's Blamey Stakes at Flemington despite copping a large clod of dirt in the eye and racing ungenerously with his head to one side as a result.

“He won't actually have a full blown spell. I will keep him in just ticking over for a while and all going well he will have his next run in Queensland as a lead up to the Stradbroke, but no program has been set in concrete,” said Stony Creek trainer Ken Fythe.

Rockpecker will be based at Caloundra for his trip north with connections keen to keep him in the country environment he's used to.

Fythe is also likely to take his multiple winning mare, Don't Look Ethol, to the sunshine state as well.
