I backed Imananabaa at $26 the place in the Coolmore on Saturday.
He ran 9th but was beaten less than 1 length out of third position.
Looking at the results I now see that D Nikolic rode her 2kg over!
Don't they have rules to stop the fat midgets doing crap like that?

I think it is allowable for a Jockey to ride over weight with the permission of the Stewards. Often owners will elect to keep a jockey who is overweight if he knows the horse, rather than put an untried Jock on board. Jockeys riding overweight are announced before the start.

Wasn't there a special dispensation delivered by Stewards because of the large number of runners on the miniumum?

DD hit the jackpot. It was well publicised (well I heard it) before the event.

Well, they could have rung me to let me know.
Were am I supposed to find that information on race day?
And no other jockey was more than a half over - 2 over is just taking the piss.

Jockeys Permitted To Ride Overweight - Coolmore Classic Racenet Friday, 20 March 2009
Due to the unavailability of jockeys to ride at 51kg, Racing NSW Stewards have granted approval for the following riders to ride overweight in the Coolmore Classic at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday (21st March).
7 - ABSOLUTELYFABULOUS (Corey Brown - 1kg over) 9 - PORTILLO (Jay Ford - 0.5kg over) 11 - IMANANABAA Danny Nikolic (2kg over) 16 - BERNICIA (Rodney Quinn - 1kg over) 17 - MARY'S GRACE (Jeff Penza - 1kg over)
And due to the unavailability of riders at the weight of 51kg, RNSW Stewards have also permitted the following dual engagement:-
APPRENTICE PETER WELLS is declared on 10 - ILLUMINATES and 18 (Em) - GLOWLAMP. Should GLOWLAMP gain a start as second emergency, then a new rider will be required for ILLUMINATES.

dusk, if there is a suitable jockey available who can ride the weight theres no way the stewards will let someone ride over. though i think the rules a bit cloudy.

I think the real issue here is the minimum weight. I know Lee Freedman was complaining about the Newmarket minimum for the same reason. There should be one minimum weight for all handicaps, and if that means top weights in big handicaps have to carry 60-61 then so be it.
