Jumps jockey Brett Scott should be suspended for putting other jockeys and horses lives in danger with his ride on Flying Corkscrew in a hurdle at Hamilton today.

He lost his irons mid-race, and instead of attempting to pull the horse up, he continued in the race, even manouvering through the field, eventually coming to grief over a jump which caused the 2 horses directly behind him to come crashing to the turf.

A great jumps jockey he is, but terrible decision today.  Thumb Down

I don't think you can isolate that fall for him making abad decision.

He went over quite a few jumps before he came to grief, obviously the more he jumped cleanly the more confident he got, but i don't think you can hang him for attempting it.

I would imagine though that he will not do it in the future.

Race 2 – LUXBET.COM MAIDEN HURDLE - 3200 metres:

TERRIPPLE was resaddled at the start.

FIVE LEGS was slow to begin.

TIP THE DIP was eased out of the race near the 1400 metres due to the saddle on that gelding shifting forward.   S. Pateman, rider of TIP THE DIP, stated that the saddle had shifted forward near the 1600 metres and for this reason eased the gelding out of the race.

On landing over the first obstacle the near side stirrup iron of B. Scott, rider of FLYING CORKSCREW (NZ),  broke and as a result continued on without the use of both stirrup irons.  B. Scott stated to the Stewards that even though the near side stirrup iron had broken his mount continued to jump well and for this reason continued to take part in the race, however approaching the hurdle near the 900metres he rode his mount into the hurdle where the horse fell was of the opinion that in hindsight he should have sat quietly instead of of riding it along.  When FLYING CORKSCREW fell CASH ADVANCE which was following was brought down in consequence.

At the obstacle near the 900metres RONDAHL made a faulty jump and fell.   R. Waymouth, rider of RONDAHL, stated that his horse had jumped awkwardly throughout the race and lost concentration near the 900 meters and fell.

At the second last obstacle approaching the 300 metres YOSHI RAAZA landed awkwardly and dislodged rider, N. Dunn.  N. Dunn stated that his mount jumped awkwardly and due to him having one hand on the rein at that point in the race he was dislodged.

FLYING CORKSCREW (NZ), RONDAHL and YOSHI RAAZA will all be referred to the Jumping Review Panel for assessment.
