Its very embarassing for me Westie because I was at the track when it occured....they did not make the announcement until the conclusion of the meeting....remember being totally surprised that they went ahead with the remainder of the meeting...reason I bring it up now is that I was just telling my son-in-law that I was on track when it occured...and cant for the life of me recall who it was....Munro?....honestly m8 I dont know shy

Munro, James Leslie (Jimmie) (1906 - 1974) - Munro died at Randwick on 24 July 1974.

Footnote:  The above is not to suggest that this was Darby's brother that died that day, but it's all I can find and for all I know Jimmy may have lived at Randwick and died at home.

I found a reference to Stan Cassidy being of Aboriginal descent.

Died: 16 Jul 1974, Randwick Racecourse, Sydney, New South Wales at age 44

So probably not related to Jim and Larry.

Bathurst greyhounds have a memorial race named after him, so he was probably from that region.
