QRL elections are coming up as per notice on the web site.

Looks very democratic without seeing the small print.

Looking to find the requirements in Appendix A under the Constitution & Rules it's nowhere to be found
Has never been available either it seems. Thumb Down

Anyone interested should contact the recruitment agency as QRL doesn't want us asking them questions even disclosing WHO is retiring.

First to find out should post and let everyone in on it. Thumb Up

Bart Sinclair reports that applications have been called for two positions to be vacated on the QRL board as two members have to step down at the AGM.

Maybe it's a secret but no mention as to who the stepping downers are.

All lips are sealed.

Could Bill be one?not like him to retire even though he's pushing 75.

They will decide who is to retire by concensus or lot if necessary.

Mono are you going to apply?

JWH

In some constitutions retiring Directors are free to renominate for another term, but in others the Director must retire permanantly.  My question is does anyone know what rule applies for QRL.  I have not read their constitution on this point.

Ascot if you have access to the QRL constitution you are well ahead of the rest of us .

It's not available on the QRL website and from what I hear there are no plans to put it up.

What we do know is that proposals to extend the tenure of existing directors, although approved by the class A members  by a massive majority of 14 to 1, was rejected by the then Minister last year.So there may be a "Sunset" clause as to total time served.

Pity the info on this on the old forum has been lost in cyberspace as there was plenty said there which might answer the question as to which two are due to stand down.

Some of the current Directors have been around since 2002 others from 2004 so it's a fair bet retiring directors would be eligible to renominate unless they have reached their time limit if there is one.

The Ear reports in today's C-M that an ex race club Chairman is rumoured to become a director of QRL. chin

There might be two appointments or one new appointment and a reappointment .
Some Directors have been on since 2002 others from 2004 but the term of office is not known to me and the Constitution is not accessible on QRL's website.

This is surprising seeing everything else is up for scrutiny.

And Obi today mentioned a lawyer telling him it was more confusing than the Magna Carta and  that he also doubted the validity of the board election process.

From another post it looks like Wayne Milner has the nod at the AGM .Unless someone pulls a rabbit out of the hat. smiley

Obi's column has no credibility. It's all very boring now.

Who does he think drafted the QRL constitution in the first place ?. I dare say it was a lawyer.

I have read the document.  The problem is probably more what it does not say than what is in it.  When that occurs, a company must default to the requirements of the Corps Act and the latter is a lawyers sandpit.

Thenamy

Can I suggest you get hold of the QRL Constitution.

Then compile a short precis of the process for election of QRL directors and post it here for us all to see.

I know it will be appreciated by many.
