There was a thread for deaths of well known people in the TNHRCF.
We should have one here.

Bert said "he was a singer".....CRAP!
he sung but was never a singer.....there is a big difference.

Watched the TV tribute tonight.  It was well done.
I remember the show well and I always thought Don and Burt were
excellent together.  Don't see shows like that anymore.
RIP to a talented and nice bloke.

In 1967, the top-rated talk show host Don Lane irritated Kowalski during an apparently friendly interview and was attacked with the Kowalski claw hold - Lane needed medical assistance and was off the show for a week.

Gee, where did you dig that up from. I didn't realise it was that long ago. Thought it was in the seventies.

They said Don loved publicity.

Somehow Don's real name didn't have the oomph....THE Morton Donald Isaacson Show"

Don was a red hot Souths supporter. Apart from that I thought he was a great bloke.

David Shepherd, the former England umpire, has died after a long battle with cancer. He was 68.

Shepherd was a renowned international umpire and officiated in 172 ODIs, including three consecutive World Cup finals, and 92 Tests between 1983 and 2005.

He was appointed as a first-class umpire in 1981 and the speed of his elevation to the international stage was evidence of his ability and the regard in which he was held His last Test was match between West Indies and Pakistan in Kingston in June 2005 and his final appearance in an ODI was at The Oval in 2005. Shepherd also had a 14-year career at Gloucestershire for whom he played 282 first-class matches.

He was the umpire who wouldn't keep two feet on the ground when the score was a triple eg 111, 222 etc wasn't he? Used to jig from one foot to the other until another run was scored. smiley

RIP to one of the old school umpires, 68 is too young

John " Jazza" Mowbrey. Just read the funeral notices in the paper and noticed that Jazza had passed away. Played on the wing for Western Suburbs in the mid 60's. Had these cut - down footie boots and as I was a young 13 year old winger I had to have a pair too. I thought I was shit hot as well. R.I.P. Johnny.
