The annual Brekky Creek Bash on Stradbroke Eve is looming large.

I'm offering a FREE steak (with the standard BCH trimmings) as a prize for a competition that starts from tomorrow and ends on May 30.

All you need to do is post a selection for a Brisbane metropolitan meeting (Doomben or Eagle Farm, including mid-weeks.  GC Prime Minister's Cup Day included).  Since some of us have difficulty finding WINNERS, you're free to nominate a LOSER if you think that's a better option.  But you must give the reasoning behind your selection.  I'd expect Mono will say "trained by Robbie Heathcote, ran a good 7th last start".  Regardless of the outcome, that won't even get him on to the short list.  I'd expect to see something like this:

TO WIN EF Race 1 #13 BOUGETTE Lightly-raced mare resuming.  Won first up last campaign on a slow track.  In smart stable and looks like being good odds.

OR

TO LOSE EF Race 1 #3 MICHELLE CAFEA  Has had a solid preparation and stepping up to 1400 for the first time. Soft track makes it tougher for her.  Will be in the market again.

The winner will be chosen by yours truly on May 31, after consideration of the price of the winner (or loser) and the veracity of the reasoning behind the selection.  For example, if someone nominates an odds-on favourite as a loser, and offers reasoning that is born out in the race, they'll be a strong contender for the prize.  Depending on circumstances, I might prepare a progressive short list.

As always, the Rules are simple.

1. Entries must be in by noon on the day of the race.

2. One entry per day per person.  (There's no requirement to enter every race-day.)

3. Post must be clear as to whether the nomination is for WIN or LOSE.

4. If the winner is unable to attend the Forum BCH function on Friday 5th June, a proxy may be nominated.

4. (a)  If the winner or proxy is vegetarian, a suitable meal of equivalent value will be arranged.

5. The judge's decision is FINAL, and no debate will be entertained.

6. If ya not happy with ANY of the above, don't enter.

Good luck to all.

Brisbane Race 6 No 7 Sir Kingsford.

This horse has had little luck in its last couple of starts. Finally drawn an alley and with Jim Byrne engaged can sit back and have the last crack at them today. This is a very open race with a number of  chances but with any luck this will be getting home at good odds.

Cheers

Are you trying to say you wouldn't feed any of them?

Not unless they improve their selections.

Don't worry - I know most of these guys from past experiences.  They'll do anything for a free feed - but in this case they need to pick a winner (or loser).

If those other stupid riders had not have let young Evans get that run on the rails, I would have been spot on.

Ashlee's Jewel would have won easy. Sad

Good fun idea anyway DD.

Unfortunately I think I will struggle to get to the Creek but sure those steaks will be as nice as ever.

I reckon you're spitting chips because Amy isnt' riding Chak. huh

Great run by the Baldwin horse.  It looked the goods when Amy circled the field to win on it Royal Ipswich.  More to come, for sure.

Nice gesture DD. I have checked my diary and can't make it this year.

I would like to get into the spirit of it all and have decided to supply, free of charge, all cutlery, condiments and serviettes to all forumites that attend on the day.

Enjoy  beer

Nice gesture, Hamish.  We'll think of you as we slice into our medium-rare eye fillets.

Whether you attend or not, you're still eligible to enter the comp.  Always a grateful proxy hovering around.

If there's continued lack of interest in this competition it'll be declared CLOSED.

I'll happily have two steaks at BCH on June 5. fry

Moncalieri has not drawn the best, but I, like many others were very impressed with this well bred horse first win at its first start in a race.
Galloway needs to be at his very best here but I feel Moncalieri is well above Class 3 rating in Brisbane.

Race 6 No 12 Moncalieri

I have had a little think about Zaman Doomben race 3 # 3 This could be a winning chance because it's from Miss Sandman the dam of Show A Heart who won a Straddy  smiley  The opposition doesnt look too strong, and it has a good trainer from NSW  Thumb Up

There is a connection here Straddy week prize and a connection to past Straddy winna  excited

Good stuff, guys.  We might at least get someone on the short list after today.

RH, you did some research to come up with ZAMAN.  Let's see if Ms Cheshire can get him home for ya.  Nice odds in today's press.

TK, I've backed her the drum at fixed odds.  Probably gone off too soon, but late at night I do silly things. Sad  Very good race.  We know they'll go like the clappers, and that should give her the chance to run on.
