“Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster said that in the current climate, today's results were outstanding.
"When compared with the major broodmare sales in the northern hemisphere last year, which all came in around the 63% to 67% mark, to achieve 76% clearance during the opening session is a fantastic result," Webster said.
Anyone who has seriously studied the results of the Easter Broodmare Bloodbath would be hard pressed to consider the sale a “fantastic result for the Industry”.
Several well known industry figures reported seeing the sudden withdrawal of almost ALL the Arrowfield broodmares in the catalogue, which were suddenly pulled out of the Inglis complex, loaded on trucks and sent straight home to Arrowfield. Given that the mares are owned by industry leader, John Messara, one can only assume that he had actually voted with his feet and removed his mares from the scene of the carnage.
So, who is really telling the truth here, Mr. Webster? And isn’t it time we all stopped playing games and faced the reality of what might be a long and sustained recession?
