Jockey takeover - Rawiller suspended Clinton Payne Saturday, 18 April 2009
Stewards have cost Nash Rawiller any chance of sticking with Takeover Target at his next start after he was suspended from the Sires Produce Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.
Rawiller was suspended for a total of 13 meetings, ruling him out of the Takeover Target ride in the Goodwood Handicap at Morphettville on May 2.
Takeover Target’s trainer Joe Janiak said he was undecided if Rawiller would retain the ride after the nine-year-old’s stunning win in the Group I T J Smith Stakes on Saturday.
Rawiller was outed from April 26 until May 12 for allowing the race winner Manhattan Rain to shift in at the 1000 metres where the chute joins the course proper.
Rawiller had Manhattan Rain on an inward path and caused interference to Romanus who in turn tightened Phelan Ready who crashed into the running rail.
Chief steward Ray Murrihy described the incident as “bad interference in a Group I race”.
