Strathalbyn Racing Club has become the first regional club in South Australia to secure sponsorship with the world's leading betting exchange, Betfair.

The partnership, which takes effect immediately, includes venue and track signage plus naming rights sponsorship of a number of races.

Strathalbyn Racing Club secretary Sharon Cimarosti said the sponsorship was "great news for the club".

"Betfair showed a significant interest in Strathalbyn as one of the leading country clubs in Australia and a very attractive club in which to invest," Sharon said.

"We're delighted that Betfair has shown its support for South Australian racing by investing in the future of Strathalbyn."

Betfair Chief Executive Officer Andrew Twaits said Betfair was delighted to be entering into the arrangement with Strathalbyn.

"It's our first foray into sponsorship in South Australia and it represents another major milestone in the ongoing growth of our business," he said.

"We've always maintained that we'd like to put money back into racing through sponsorship and Strathalbyn provides us with a further opportunity to strengthen our brand in South Australia and across the country."

First evidence of the sponsorship will be seen at Strathalbyn on Wednesday 22nd April with Betfair sponsoring a number of races on the day's program.
