Having been up that way a couple of times, and driven from Cairns to Townsville, there is no way known that trainers in Cairns can survive if they are forced to travel to Townsville every week to race.  I sometimes wonder about Boards who are based in Brisbane/Sydney, doling out decisions where they may not understand just how big the States are once you get to Rural areas. 

This is less true of Victoria which is not as big a State, and there is much less travelling time between Wangaratta(which is closing) and Shepparton(which is picking up their dates).  I disagree with that decision too, but more because I like the Wangaratta track but hate Shepparton!

Pathetic decision imo.... Jokers run greyhound racing nd these boards  should be voted by the owners nd trainers who are the backbone of the sport.

Cairns have lodged an appeal re their reduced meetings with Racing Appeals Tribunal.

Trial is set down for August 5th .....

Greyhounds Win

Brisbane:  The Cairns Greyhound Club last night won its appeal against Greyhoundsd Queensland decision to slash its number of race meetings to 24. The Racing Appeal Tribunal approved the club's request to stage 33 races this financial year. The club will be reviewed at the end of the financial year and hopes to stage 40 the following year.
