QLD

Lisa Cropp suspended at The Farm in Brisbane from 16 June until 16 September for shoving her arm up going to the post, one would expect her to appeal her three months out.

Damien Oliver was suspended for nine meetings and fined $5000 for his ride on Empires Choice in the Derby, free to ride on 30 June - guess UK goes bekoning.

Apprentice James Geppert Suspended For 3 Months
Racing NSW Stewards today inquired into the betting activities of licensed apprentice jockey James Geppert, in December, 2009.

Evidence was taken from apprentice Geppert, licensed trainer Mrs Alison Smith, master of apprentice Geppert, and Mr Peter Fox, proprietor of the TAB agency in Summer St, Orange.

Closed circuit television footage from the TAB agency was also obtained and viewed during proceedings.

Racing NSW Racecourse Detective, Mr Bob Nicholson, and Chief Steward, CDRA and WRA , Mr Todd Smith, assisted the inquiry.

Apprentice Geppert pleaded guilty to a charge under AR83(c) in that at our around 1:10 pm on the 14 December 2009 at the Summer St, Orange TAB Agency, he placed two bets on thoroughbred races.

Apprentice Geppert’s permit to ride in races was suspended for a period of 3 months to commence immediately, and to expire on 2nd June 2010, on which day he may ride.

Apprentice Geppert pleaded guilty to a further charge under AR175 (gg) in that in an interview at Orange Racecourse of the 18 December 2009 with Racing NSW Racecourse Detective, Mr Bob Nicholson, and Chief Steward CDRA and WRA, Mr Todd Smith, when questioned regarding betting activities he made a false statement in that he denied placing the aforementioned bets.

For this offence, apprentice Geppert’s permit to ride in races was suspended for a period of 3 months, with the Stewards ruling that the penalty be served concurrently with the suspension incurred under the charge of AR 83 (c).

Apprentice Geppert was advised of his rights of appeal.

Someone must have spotted him.
Anyway, I'm pleased that the kid's been lucky on two fronts.  He got away from a pretty nasty fall with a broken collar bone which will keep him out for another month.  So in essence just a two month ban.

Lucky Geppert is out of hospital and in recovery mode

Apprentice James Geppert will be out for about six weeks after fracturing his collarbone in a race fall at Wellington on Thursday. The 27-year-old, riding for just more than a year and with 20 winners this season, crashed just after the post when his mount, Noble Crown, trained by his master, Alison Smith, at Orange, lost its footing after finishing third. "James was very lucky he didn't suffer worse injuries," Smith said. "When I saw the replay it looked awful. He should be home on the weekend. Noble Crown is very stiff and sore but there doesn't appear to be any major injury worries. He'll go to the paddock to recover." It was a topsy-turvey day for Smith. Earlier, heavily backed Double Header landed some good wagers winning a maiden with Jeff Kehoe in the saddle. Formerly trained at Hawkesbury and with one unplaced run at Gosford in May last year, Double Header has been a headache horse forced to trial on numerous occasions, the three-year-old gelding showed abundant speed to score a 4˝-length win. Meanwhile, trainer and former amateur jockey John Langworthy has returned to the races after recovering from life-threatening injuries in a trackwork accident at Orange last year.

John Langworthy?  Boy that name rings a bell, his wife Eva I think her name was? trained for a time at Warwick Farm in the early/mid 60's John I think won at least one Corinthian at Randwick (a race for amateur riders) I was only a very young fella back then, they were a great punting stable at the time(but then again most stables were) Mitchell Hudson won a race at Warwick Farm to day, his dad  F.J. (Johnny) trained at W/Farm at around the time and his dad had a horses called Pratten Park owned by the Western Suburbs Leages club members and among other races won the Breeders Plate and VRC Sires beating Quezette and Manihi(Manikato's sire)

Allan Chau Brisbane apprentice.
Didn't see this race but it must have been an extremely poor ride,  a bit short of deliberately  pulling it up going by the guilty plea and the stewards commentary on Chau's "honest and fortright evidence"

"Stewards today concluded an inquiry into apprentice jockey Allan Chau’s riding of Degree Of Honour in the Express Motorcycles Maiden Plate 1200m at Ipswich on Wednesday, April 14, 2010. Initial evidence following the race was taken from Chau, trainer Mr Chris Jordan, part-owner Mr J. Barns, and Ms M. Leitch representing apprentice Chau’s master, Mr Robert Heathcote. The matter was adjourned on the day to allow Mr Heathcote to be present to represent his apprentice.

At the inquiry on Monday, April 19, stewards heard submissions from Mr Heathcote and further submissions from Chau and Mr Jordan. After considering all of the evidence, Chau was issued with a charge under the provisions of AR135 (b) which reads:

“The rider of every horse shall take all reasonable and permissible measures throughout the race to ensure that his horse is given full opportunity to win or to obtain the best possible place in the field.”

The specifics of the charge are as follows:

After passing the 900 metre mark he failed to take a position on Degree Of Honour trailing Izachamp one off the rail, instead electing to take a position on the rail behind Hugging;

After passing the 500 metre mark he failed to improve on Degree Of Honour when there was a clear opportunity to do so between Hugging and Pride of Heart;
Approaching the 300 metre mark he failed to position Degree Of Honour between Izachamp and Pride of Heart with the purpose of following Zymurgy, which would have ensured a clear run to the finish line.

Apprentice Chau pleaded guilty to the charge and made lengthy submissions regarding penalty. Mr Heathcote also made submissions in this regard.

Stewards, when considering penalty, took into account all the unique circumstances of this particular case. They acknowledged the honest and forthright evidence given by Chau and that he had no prior offences under this rule. Stewards were of the view that the appropriate penalty was to suspend Chau’s licence to ride in races for a period of six weeks, commencing midnight Monday, April 19, 2010 and to expire at midnight Monday, May 31, 2010.

Stewards advised trainer Chris Jordan that he had not breached the rules of racing and his evidence was accepted."

Did anyone see Ollie being interviewed on Sky yesterday explaining the overweight situation.  Said thought his penalty was too harsh!

No mention of the poor punters who lost (by a nostril) money on his ride on Road to Rock?

I like Ollie very much and am sure he is an honest man, but no consideration whatsoever to how much money punters might have lost.............................myself included!

Amazing!

Does ANYONE in this industry consider the punters besides the punters??????    what what

Reckon Road to Rock will be a good bet this weekend!!!!!!
