Trainer Reports To Stewards, Re: Oahu Girl [05/05/2009]
Please be advised that trainer Rick Worthington has reported to Racing NSW Stewards that Oahu Girl, which is an acceptor in Race 3 (Grey Gums Hotel Hcp, 1250m-1:23pm) at Canterbury Park on Wednesday (6th May), sustained superficial wounds and bruising to the bridge of its nose due to a stable incident on Saturday, 2nd May.
Mr Worthington has advised that the filly has not missed any work as a consequence of the incident.
The Stewards have today received a veterinary clearance for Oahu Girl confirming its fitness to run.
Oahu Girl will also be inspected by the Club's Veterinary Officer upon arrival at the course tomorrow (Wednesday).

Incorrect Gear Change - Chastelain (C'bury Today) [06/05/2009]
Please note that an incorrect gear change may appear in various publications for a runner at today's Canterbury Park race meeting (6th May).
In Race 4, Horse - 1 CHASTELAIN (Jay Ford) may be showing 'Winkers Off' - this is incorrect.
In fact, Chastelain did not carry Winkers at its latest start and will not be carrying Winkers today.

Appeal Date - Ms Poidevin-Lane And Mr Poidevin [07/05/2009]


Please be advised that licensed trainer Ms Diane Poidevin-Lane and licensed foreperson Mr Carl Poidevin, have each appealed against the severity of a five-month penalty imposed on them by Racing NSW Stewards after each pleaded guilty to a charge under AR178 of having presented Celtic Courage to contest the Patinack Farm AJC Oaks at Royal Randwick on Saturday, 18th April 2009, with a prohibited substance, in the form of an alkalising agent, being detected in blood samples taken from Celtic Courage prior to the race. 

Ms Poidevin-Lane and Mr Poidevin have applied for, and been granted, a Stay of Proceedings until the day the appeal is listed for hearing. 

The appeals will be heard by the Appeal Panel at Racing NSW's head offices at 9:30am on Friday, 22nd May 2009.

Racing NSW Stewards have today announced that an inquiry into the Analyst's report in relation to the urine sample taken from NUCLEAR ESCORT following its unplaced run at the Kembla Grange race meeting on Saturday, 18th April 2009, will be held on a date still to be determined.

Stay Of Proceedings Granted - Ms Diane Poidevin-Lane & Mr Carl Poidevin [05/06/2009]


Please be advised that the Racing Appeals Tribunal, headed by the Hon Justice W.R Haylen, has granted a Stay of Proceedings to each of Ms Diane Poidevin-Lane and Mr Carl Poidevin in respect of the appeals lodged by them to the Racing Appeals Tribunal.

In each case the Stay of Proceedings has been granted "Until further order of the Tribunal".

Trainer John McGregor Fined $5,000 [05/06/2009]


Racing NSW Stewards today opened an inquiry into the Analyst's finding of the prohibited substance Altrenogest in the pre-race urine sample taken from the gelding Surprise Strike prior to it competing in Race 5 (Class 2 Handicap, 1400m) at Wagga Wagga on Saturday, 28th February 2009.

Evidence was taken from licensed Southern Districts Racing Association Trainer John McGregor, licensed Stablehand Geoff Brown and Racing NSW Senior Official Veternarian, Dr Craig Suann.

Trainer John McGregor pleaded guilty to a charge under AR175(h)(ii) in that he did cause Altrenogest in the form of the product Regumate™ to be administered to Surprise Strike and a subsequent urine sample taken from that gelding prior to it competing in Race 5 (Class 2 Handicap, 1400m) at Wagga Wagga on Saturday, 28th February 2009, was found upon analysis to contain the prohibited substance Altrenogest. 

After carefully taking into account all the circumstances surrounding this matter, Mr McGregor was fined the sum of $5,000. 

Furthermore, acting under the provisions of AR177 the Stewards disqualified Surprise Strike from its 8th placing in the above mentioned event.

Mr McGregor was advised of his rights of appeal against the decision of the Stewards.

Mr Adam Sparrow Disqualified For 12 Months [05/06/2009]


Please be advised that Racing NSW Stewards today disqualified Mr Sparrow for a period of 12 months commencing immediately and expiring at midnight on Saturday, 5th June 2010.

Mr Adam Sparrow has subsequently lodged an Appeal against the disqualification imposed upon him by Stewards under AR 175 (f). 

Mr Sparrow was unsuccessful in his application for a Stay of Proceedings. 

Appeal Date Determined For Adam Sparrow [22/06/2009]


Please be advised that the Racing NSW Appeal Panel has set down Thursday, 23rd July 2009, as the date for the appeal of Mr Adam Sparrow against a disqualification of 12 months imposed on him by RNSW Stewards acting under AR 175 (f).

The Appeal is scheduled to be heard at Racing NSW's head offices at 9:30am.

Stewards To Open Cool Saab Inquiry [02/07/2009]


Racing NSW Stewards have received an Analyst's report relative to a finding of the prohibited substance tranexamic acid in the urine sample taken from the racehorse Cool Saab subsequent to its winning Race 2 (Rating 67 Handicap) at the Broken Hill race meeting on Saturday, 28th March 2009.

An inquiry into the analyst's finding will be held at a date to be fixed. 

Please be advised that jockey Rodney Quinn has become indisposed and consequently at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday (4th July) in Race 4, Horse - 3 MUSTARD will now be ridden by Hugh Bowman.

Please be advised that jockey Daniel Edmonds has become indisposed and consequently at Kembla Grange on Saturday (4th July) in Race 4, Horse - 9 MURPHY'S MINX will now be ridden by Apprentice Josh Adams.

Funny how these jockeys always become indisposed when they only have one ride for the day and it is 100/1.

 

Abbrev. Stewards Report - Punto Vista (Grafton Weds) [13/07/2009]

Abbreviated Stewards Report (from Sunshine Coast on 20th June 2009): Stewards opened an inquiry into the running and handling of Punto Vista. After taking evidence from jockey S. Drake and trainer Mr G. Cornish, stewards decided to take no direct action in regard to the ride by jockey Drake, however, they advised her that, in their opinion, there was an element of doubt as to whether she had taken all reasonable and permissible measures to place the horse in the best position in the event. Jockey Drake was further advised that the concerns of the stewards surrounded her lack of vigour throughout the event, particularly in the early stages when she was racing in a clear last position, and again from the 400m onwards when afforded clear running she failed to place the horse under full pressure. A post-race veterinary examination of Punto Vista revealed the filly to be sore upon palpation of the near hind loin area. Stewards advised trainer Mr G. Cornish that he must furnish a veterinary certificate of fitness for the filly prior to its next start which has since been received.

Upcoming Stewards Inquiries - H&NW Region [16/07/2009]


Racing NSW Hunter & North Western Racing Association Stewards have advised of the forthcoming inquiries:-

1. A hearing of a charge under AR 135(b) against licensed jockey Allan Robinson relative to his ride on Kwilas Law in Race 6 (John Cobcroft Tribute Handicap) at Quirindi on Friday, 1st May 2009, will be heard at Scone Racecourse at 1pm on Wednesday, 22nd July 2009.

2. Stewards received an Analyst's report advising of the presence of the prohibited substance testosterone at a mass concentration in excess of the threshold for geldings provided in AR 178C(g)(i) with respect to the pre-race urine sample taken from The Concierge (NZ) prior to its 8th placing at Muswellbrook on 22nd May 2009 in Race 4 (Rating 67 Handicap). An inquiry into the Analyst's finding will be conducted at a time and date to be fixed.
