The NSW Parliament passed reforms on Tuesday that will see Greyhound and Harness Racing appeals bodies merge into the Thoroughbred Racing Appeals Tribunal.

“An independent integrity auditor function across all three codes will work to deal with complaints about the conduct of racing officials, and the appeal tribunals of all three codes will be merged under a single entity to be known as the Racing Appeals Tribunal,” Gaming and Racing Minister Kevin Greene said.

The bill also passed a new law relating to people that invade racecourses during a meeting.

“It’s pleasing to see a new offence introduced for unauthorized persons invading racecourses,” Mr Greene said.

“Penalties range from expulsion, a $500 penalty notice, a 12-month ban, a life ban, and a maximum court penalty of $5500.”
