If the jockey is not fighting with them, what are they pulling ?
If the jockey is not fighting with them, than the horse must have either settled where the jockey wants them or is galloping at his own leasure.

Congratulations to the Wallace camp at GC.
Perfect ride from Stathi. The horse had the race in his keeping over the rise.
Obviously, the best stayer in the field.

You've said it all dd. Wallace said it's his best ever horse. Idiot Bruce Clarke must not know about the QTIS sales. After the race he asked the female owner about what took her eye about Shoot Out when buying him, she said "honestly, the QTIS". He thought 'cutest' and said "what's a cute horse?", she corrected him "no, at the QTIS sales"

I think all the credit goes to the SIRE.
Any Top trainer can get these horses to perform.

A woman asked to me to lunch and said "we'd go Dutch"....my answer didn't fit the meaning. So embarrassing

Trainer John Wallace reports on 4TAB that the GC star has pulled up well, about to head back to Coast for a holiday.
Then onto the Spring. Wallace is now thinking Melbourne Cups.
Full credit to Matt for his early nomination of Shoot Out as a star of the future.

He won't be pulling for 2800m then winning a Melbourne Cup.

You never know - you can sit 3 wide for 2800m and still win them these days.

If he has that kinda sprint at the end or any distance he'll be hard to beat.

I would be confident the horse can be trained to settle better than he has been of late.
The horse hasn't had too many starts.
He'll be fine.

Thing is for mine, he was easily the best horse in the derby, where he came from, denied even the swoopers with the momentum directly on his ouside.. slow tempo however, don't know what to make of that. Time will tell how good the High Chaparrals are over 2 miles.

Slow tempo was what made it such a great run, coming from where he did, his turn of foot is what stamps him as top class

Yes that's certainly one way of looking at it, but how many others made ground from the rear?
