TIMES AND FINAL SECTIONALS ON RACENET

Some, like me, may not know that information on race-times is available as the racing day unfolds.

This week that I became aware that Racenet publishes race results -- including final sectional times --on its  web site (racenet.com.au). [During the day, go to the Racenet 'form' for a meeting and scroll down to the 'race results' in the menu on the left side.]

I have, for years,  asked Tabcorp to publish 'times' along with its race results -- and it chose not to.

As things stand, as the day unfolds, Racenet is the more useful source of race results  -- the 'times'  help understanding of pace and track conditions.

This is another example of the gradual displacement of Tabcorp:  a monopoly unwilling to meet a customer service role that it should have made a priority -- and is continually bleating about the impact of competition that shows up its disdain for its customers.

Peter,

Go to justracing.com.au

Doubledee will not agree---but if it's just sectional times (not fictional times --DD) this may be what you want.

It will cost---but thats your call.

But Racenet sectional times would be accurate?  I mean, electronically timed.

Another website offering sectional times.

http://www.racingservice.com.au/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=14&Itemid=32

I wonder are these electronically timed or fictional?

THE CRITICAL ISUES FOR TAB PUNTERS

I consider that TAB punters are as entitled to know (accurate) times and (accurate) sectionals for each race as it is run, no different to the TAB punters' entitlement to know the placings and dividends: the times are a key element in race results.

I do not know who 'owns' this information or is responsible for collecting and collating it -- but, as a key element of any race result, it should be published, prominently and immediately,  with the TAB dividends.

Racing boards seeking fees for race-fields may like to show some concern for their customers and make sure the industry reveals in a timely way details that bear of customers understanding of races run and still coming.

I still wonder why the TABs do not provide this service as a matter of course.

Peter, unless estimating a race-time becomes a betting type, the TABs will never provide this info post-race.
