Juvenile Gr3-winner Exceedingly Good (Exceed And Excel-Common Smytzer, by Snippets) has been retired (due to a hind leg injury) & will become the world's 1st son of dual Gr1-winning Darley sire Exceed And Excel (Danehill-Patrona, by Lomond) to go to stud by joining the stallion roster at Queensland's Secret Hill Farms for the 2009 breeding season at a $7,700 fee. On the track, 3YO colt Exceedingly Good (a $400,000 yearling at the 2007 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) recorded 2 wins (in the Listed Maribyrnong Trial Stakes over 1000m at Flemington on debut in October 2007 to provide his sire with a black-type success with his very 1st starter, plus a follow-up victory in the Gr3 Maribyrnong Plate over 1000m at Flemington in his next start a month later) & 3 placings (including 2008's Gr3 Blue Diamond Prelude over 1100m at Caulfield & Listed Vain Stakes over 1100m at Caulfield) from 8 starts. Exceedingly Good will join resident sires Minardi & Dr Green at Secret Hill Farms (now owned by Queensland breeders John & Janette Doherty) & stud manager Don Mackinnon enthused: "He's what we all look for in a young stallion: type, pedigree & racecourse performance.
