Tabcorp "plans to offer fixed odds on every race in all 3 codes by the end of the year," reported The Herald-Sun. Tabcorp chief executive Robert Nason said yesterday "the best way to fight the rise of corporate bookmakers was to continue to encroach on their territory by providing a greater fixed-odds service". Nason declared: "We need to fight fire with fire & by providing this service, along with having our own corporate bookmaker in Luxbet, is our way of taking the fight up to them." Tabcorp "recently added 8 price assessors to its ranks to bring its total to 30" & Nason noted: "By the end of the year, when a punter enters a TAB the fixed odds will be displayed prominently, giving punters a clear choice between betting on the tote or taking a fixed price." Not sure I saw this reported and didn't know where to put it  chin but does seem a sensible move (for once)

Fixed odds breakthrough for NSW TAB punters

NSW TAB punters will be allowed to place fixed odds bets until the jump using the telephone and the tote’s online facility from Saturday.

Interim approval was granted on Friday for up to the jump betting on Group and Listed races.

“The approval gives our customers more choice and we look forward to it being expanded to cover all races, following the conclusion of the spring racing carnival,” Tabcorp spokesman Robert Nason said.

Fixed odds betting for customers in TAB outlets will continue to close 30 minutes before the advertised start time of the first race of the meeting.

Nothing to do with Munce.

Tanbcorp's deal to provide TAB betting on all HK racing comes with a "request" from HK that no fixed odds betting be carried out
