Ballack had the perfect run in and looks terribly hard to beat.

Will take a heroic performance for the toppie to get up from that gate carrying the 60.

How is this relevant in today cups with the race now over 2400m it is a totally different race and all its past glory and history is totally and utterly irrelevant.

SHOT SET A CUP TASK

Scenic Shot will have to set a modern

weight-carrying record to win the

Brisbane Cup by becoming the first

horse to win the race with more

than 57kg since 1961 after he was

allocated 60kg yesterday. Tulloch won

the Brisbane Cup, then run at two

miles, under 9.12 (62.5kg) in 1961

while the highest winning weight in

recent years is the 57kg carried by

Igloo in 1974.

The only history relevant to the Brisbane Cup as it is now known.

This was on the Queens birthday Monday but the Straddy was on the Saturday last year with the QLD Derby right? Why are they all on the Saturday this year?

I reckon with the state of the track that  REGGIE has a better than most chance of winning this race.

If your quick you can buy her this Friday at the MM sales and own potentially your first Group two winner.

After reading this last paragraph from a story on racenet I may just wait and see if she does indeed run.

Moody’s stable foreman Tony Haydon said Reggie may be having her final race start if she runs in the Brisbane Cup on Saturday.

“She’s done a terrific job,” he said. “But if she gets new owners, they might decide she’s done enough now and scratch her and retire her immediately, you never know.”

She'll run, they would be crazy not to.
