Thought I would start a thread for tips and general chatter and even any questions that newbies or oldies may have for the
guys that log on here alot...

If you have a question for a trainer like geoff about a problem with a horse and how to fix it or...

A question for someone that owns a horse or even some advice on form/opinion for an upcoming race..

So don't be bashful any newies...Ask questions here ...

So don't be bashful any oldies...Post tips or if you just like one for the day here....

Just some ideas but even how you think a race will pan out can help another forumite...

A thread to help everyone out about the great sport of Harness Racing.......   Thumb Up Thumb Up

Just tried to lay the 2.62 fav at Globe for $20 but hit the 1 & 2 at same time so the lay would have been for $210 had I had enough in AUS Wallet, the bulk was in MAIN Wallet.
It got rolled

Wondering if anyone else here is playing in the golf day tomorrow for the launch
of the SEW carnival by HRV?

I am first up for 2 years and have the golfing ability of a rabbit but it's 4 ball ambrose
so I will be able to hide in the pack.

Be good to catch up for a beer on HRV if anyone else has a gig??

Do any of you guys know what the go is with the "Melton" horses trained by John McMullen in Queensland?
There are hundreds of them in all the low grade races and their record is dreadful. They make Dale Sutton look like a success.

Surely there has to be a story behind it because at face value it is very strange.

Interesting question Denzil, there are a couple of different ways to look at this. If he was from NZ they would be asking $150k-$200k. From an Australian viewpoint they would have to be asking $100-$150k.

No doubting his class and ability however I would be very wary about buying him, for a number of reasons:

Firstly I think I remember that he had bone chips removed from his knees last year? slight worry.
He has had a lot of gutbusters, especially as a 2yo, what toll have they taken on him?
Why hasn't he won a major? Unlucky or is he a flat track bully that dominates the heats but doesn't deliver in the final?
Puppet is a good trainer, don't think there is a lot of improvement left in him.
Like Skyvalley in last years 4yo crop, who will be the big improver in this years 4yo crop if not DUM. Letmethru or the Hei horse?

On the flip side he is a Muscles Yankee colt, so if he put away a couple of majors he could have a stud career.

Just my opinion if you are buying him good luck. Thumb Up

Luck, Thanks for putting some thought into that....

I ask as he has been SOLD subject to a vets certificate....Will update you on the figure
if sale goes through but I will say the initial offer was 95k and it got a flat NO...
Then 110k....NO
Then 130K....NO

I totally agree with you about the ?????'s on him about a major.
Wagon Apollo and Noopy were absolute superstars and they can't get the good mares
so I have my doubts on him with a stud career with all stallions so avaliable.

I played golf today with a star studded field including Lance and John Justice, Scotty Dyer
G Sugars and Puppet. Was a very interesting day and plenty of jibes were hung on Lance
about the Miracle Mile and Amy and Puppet turned to Lance and said  " Hard to win good races when getting attacked"
( reference to Kilmore Cup)........He actually took it well and just said what goes around, Comes around.... lol   lol

They are all really nice blokes when you get them on the beers away from the track !!!!!

On occasions, they seem to have had beers when they're on the track.

Was the golf display not worth talking about?

All bred by a guy named George michael, home breds mostly by Bonamax, breeds plenty every year for not much return. Has bred some good ones like Melton luciand who won an interdominion heat (but he sold him much earlier on).
They win some races but there is weight in numbers.

There you go.....

About to run race 5 at Mildura and Dasher has been fave on all runners and looks like will be for the last 3 races...

Only 1 winner out of first 4.....

Someone that no longer posts on here would be yelling cheats.....

Most likely 8 drives for 8 faves......Clearly most way unders but fave only by Dasher...

Amazing the silly tote punters....Amazing....

Would be like D.Oliver riding at Hanging Rock picnics in 8 races....

Perhaps the biggest obstacle facing Melpark Major in his bid to become only the sixth horse to claim multiple Victoria Cups is his problematic draw of five, but Tubbs is adamant that daughter Amy will pressing forward early.
That Smoken Up, Mr Feelgood and Blacks A Fake have drawn the inside three gates is of little consequence to Tubbs, who conceded that there is only one option at the elite level these days: go forward and ride your luck.

Do you reckon the idiots will change their approach now or is poor melpark destined to be flogged in the death seat for the rest of his life?

Wily...There is an old saying " Horses for courses"....They just have no idea and are
just flogging the poor thing with an attitude like that...If you draw bad then cop it on the chin
and keep ya horse for next time.
Every race is different and you approach them differently depending on the opposition
and your draw....
To have a one set mind approach to every run will just end his career early....

We keep saying with our forum horses, there is always next week....By the time MM
does draw well he will be flat and overcooked and won't win when he should...
