I not accustomed to allowing people to "steal " my seat while I'm up at the bar but this happened on Saturday by none other than Gai herself.

I didn't have the heart to ask her to vacate it and on reflection I doubt that she would have anyway.

She was watching one of hers winning at Randwick...Music Maestro ,and she was as excited as she would be winning one of the group one mile events.

After the race we congratulated her on the win and she then enquired as to whether we had had it.

She then gave out her tips for the afternoon which included the Straddie trifecta in 3.

No wonder she is well respected where ever she goes...she was willing with her time and tips and a great asset to the industry.

I'm sure she enjoyed her two minutes of fame talking to me as I did hers. lol

Wouldn't you if you had 5 sets of owners with horses in the same race.

Gai is 50% trainer and 50% promoter. Sad

Both her and her Husband Rob are great people, 2 of the most honest and nicest people I have ever met, (Not that I know them well, just from (business) dealings with both of them) She has time for everyone and not only that but she remembers every one, her memory is nothing short of amazing, her horses are always supremely fit from their first run to their last, are rarely beaten on the score of fitness OR bad luck as they are always on the pace and if they get beat it is after the fight!!
I can see why she always has the best strike rate, no one elses horse could be ridden like hers and keep going, most need cover and make a short sharp run, that is why Gai's   horses win their races at the 600 sometimes even before the 600, they go and others are to scared to chase that far from home,

Sporty,

I have a friend that had a similar encounter to you---and nothing but good reports on her response. Very open and chatty and willing to give her tips---what a breath of fresh air.
