from racingandsports ;

Tuesday, 16 June 2009: Don Eduardo has had just the 30 runners in Australia this season, but he's shooting at better than 50% winners to runners, with Devilish Intent becoming his 16th winner for the term when breaking his maiden status at Canterbury today.

Racing in the same Gooree colours as his record-priced dad, Devilish Intent was having start number four today and attracted some good bets before landing the prize.

The three-year-old gelding is from the Anabaa mare Devilina and is a full-brother to the two times winner Tio Juan.

Don Eduardo (Zabeel-Diamond Lover, by Sticks And Stones), the $3.6million Karaka yearling graduate, is also the sire of this season's dual stakes winner Divine Rebel, who went close to giving her sire a Group 1 victory when second in the Sydney Cup.

His Australian raced progeny also include the highly promising Swift Alliance, who is the winner of two from three and has won two trials in the past couple of weeks.

With his oldest progeny now four-year-olds, Don Eduardo has had three first crop runners win stakes events this season.

Divine Rebel is joined by the New Zealand Group 3 winners All In Black and Vickezzchardonnay. The stallion also has four other stakes placed performers.

In total, Don Eduardo has 41 individual winners from 88 runners.

The son of Zabeel stands at New Zealand's Haunui Farm off a fee of $7000.

The Don Eduardo 2002 Shiraz is going well too . I just had a long weekend in Mudgee and visited the Gooree Park Winery , was hoping to have a photo with Desert War or my old fav Chong Tong but they werent in the paddocks near the cellar door.

The Don Eduardo Shiraz is made from Langhorne Creek / Mclaren Vale fruit and is a big upfront wine  ,  i will be serving it accompanied by a rare char grilled T -bone with grilled mushrooms , some potato  and a rocket salad.

The Crowned Glory is a bit more delicate and will be perfect on a friday night watching the football with a double cream brie or an aged cheddar.

The stallion is going better than i expected .

2002 Don Eduardo Shiraz
For a limited time $100.00 per 6 pack normally $210.00
This remarkable Shiraz is sourced from the renowned Langhorne Creek and McLaren Vale in South Australia and made and matured in selected French oak for 18 months, in Mudgee. The wine is a dark red colour with brick red hues. It has a complex, intense and powerful nose showing ripe plum fruit and bottle age. The palate is balanced by complex cedar and vanillin notes. This wine has been fined with traditional fining agents to assist in settling and clarification, and may contain traces of egg white. This wine is perfect for drinking now.
