One of the most interesting first season stallions to Queensland this year is STOCKADE, the 4 year old son of Redoutes Choice and half brother to the Queensland iron horse, OMNITRADER.

STOCKADE was purchased for $1.2million at the 2006 Easter Yearling sale by Sir Patrick Hogan’s Cambridge Stud, as a future stallion prospect.

Sent to Lee Freedman STOCKADE (pictured) showed potential from the start and stepped out for his first race in May 2007. After a brief spell STOCKADE returned for the spring, and registered two wins in minor races before being stepped straight up to black type company where he duly won in the Geelong Derby Trial.

At his next start STOCKADE was again stepped up in class, this time straight to Group 1 company in only his 7th start in the time honoured Group 1 VRC Derby, where he was one of the favourites before finishing 7th after sustaining an injury which prematurely ended his racing career.

STOCKADE is bred on the potent Redoutes Choice / Snippets cross that has produced several black type performers in addition to STOCKADE himself, including, Snitzel, Viennese, Rubric and Montfort . The up and coming young sire Not a Single Doubt is also an exponent of this cross being by Redoutes Choice and out of a daughter, of Easy Date, who was the damn of Snippets.

STOCKADE is out of Our Side Show,a placed daughter of Snippets who was a full sister to 4 blacktype performers in Cheval Place, Snippets Girl, Snippets Show and Deep Snip. Our Side Show has had 9 foals of which 7 have raced and 6 have been winners. Amongst these winners is the aforementioned OMNITRADER who was a tough and durable racehorse, who scored 27 wins and $559,514 in prize money included the BTC Cup (Listed).

STOCKADE is standing 2009 at the Terry McKinnon owned and operated Moranjee Stud in Laravale near Beaudesert at a fee of $4,500 (inc GST) with payment on live foal.
