Red Ranson Adds UK Gr3
Vinery Stud shuttler & now permanently Australian-based stallion Red Ransom (Roberto-Arabia, by Damascus) added a UK group success overnight when Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum's colt Ouqba (Red Ransom-Dancing Mirage, by Machiavellian) also powered home from the tail of the field to score a half-length victory in the £80,000 (A$163,000) Gr3 Jersey Stakes (7 furlongs) for 3YOs at Royal Ascot. Ouqba (ridden by Tadhg O'Shea for trainer Barry Hills) defeated the Irish-bred colts Deposer (Kheleyf-Bezant, by Zamindar) & Ashram (Indian Haven-Tara's Girl, by Fayruz). Ouqba was a 140,000 guineas (A$294,000) yearling at the Doncaster Bloodstock St Leger Sale & now has 4 wins (also including April's Listed European Free Handicap over 7 furlongs at Newmarket) & 2 placings from 10 starts.
