Thoroughbred Times published its annual list of "racing's 20 most influential & powerful leaders". This year's list is headed by owner-breeder Jess Jackson, Magna Entertainment chairman & multiple Eclipse Award-winning owner-breeder Frank Stronach & international owner-breeder Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum. The lone newcomer to the 2009 list is Fasig-Tipton vice-president Dan Pride, while the drop-out was Richard Shapiro (former chairman of the California Horse Racing Board who was ranked 18th in 2008). The only person listed every year (for the 15 years the list has been published) is Lane's End owner & multiple Eclipse Award-winning breeder William Farish.
