Trainer Anthony Newing Fined $500 [22/06/2009]


Racing NSW Stewards today conducted an inquiry into a report from Stipendiary Steward, Steve Carvosso, of the finding of unregistered and unlabelled substances in the West Gosford stable premises of licensed trainer Anthony Newing during a stable inspection of the 6th June 2009.

Evidence was today taken from Mr Newing and from Racing NSW Senior Official Veterinarian, Dr Craig Suann, who assisted the inquiry. A written report was tendered from Mr Carvosso.

Mr Newing pleaded guilty to a charge under AR80E of having unlabelled and unregistered substances in his stable. Mr Newing was fined the sum of $500.

In assessing the penalty, Stewards advised Mr Newing whilst they were satisfied the substances found were 'out of date' that nevertheless it was incumbent upon all trainers to ensure that any substance or preparation present in their stable is registered, labelled, prescribed, dispended or obtained in compliance with relevant State and Commonwealth legislation.
