Rick Hore-Lacy has elected to keep Spare A Dime in Melbourne to run in the Journal Handicap Betfair Park - Sandown Lakeside on Wednesday instead of a start in Saturday’s Listed Winter Cup at Rosehill.
Melbourne Cup winning jockey Michael Rodd has developed a strong association with Hore-Lacy in recent times and has been engaged for all three runners.
Rodd was aboard Spare A Dime in his two wins before his narrow last start defeat.
“He’s flying and loves it wet,” Hore-Lacy said.
"Even with top weight I think he’s the one to beat."
Hore-Lacy also expects a bold showing from the last start debutante winner Lunar Gold in the Shizu Handicap (1200m).
“She did a good job to win on debut and the track was slow that day,” he said.
“She’s right up in the weights but it’s a high minimum and she’s trained on well.”
Britomart will carry top weight of 58kg in the Siren Song Handicap (2100m) and is coming off a seven length victory on a heavy (

at Moonee Valley.
She has won two races at Betfair Park.
“It was a very good race for her last time,” he said.
“She’s been up for a while but she’s holding her condition and I don’t think this race is any harder."
The Betfair Park track was rated slow (6) on Tuesday afternoon with showers forecast for the remainder of Tuesday and into Wednesday.
