Tuesday's Pakenham meeting moved to Bairnsdale

Monday, 6 July 2009

Tuesday’s Victorian race meeting has been transferred to Bairnsdale due to the state of the Pakenham track.

Bairnsdale is currently rated as a good 3 which , combined with other logistical issues, means the two jumps races set down for decision at the meeting will now be run as highweight flat races.

Transfer - Benalla switched to Kilmore
Brad Waters
Monday, 11 January 2010

Tuesday’s Benalla meeting has been transferred to Kilmore because of bushfire concerns.

Extreme temperatures and hot winds forecast in Melbourne have caused Victoria’s fire authorities to declare a ‘code red’ or catastrophic level of fire risk in the north-east of Victoria where Benalla is situated.

The decision to shift the meeting to Kilmore was made on Monday morning, not long after track staff finished watering the course.

A Kilmore Racing Club spokesman said the track is currently a Dead 5 but will improve rapidly in the hot conditions with more watering to take place on Monday night.

The running rail will be out five metres from the 1200 metres to the winning post.
