Last night my Grandkids talked me into Facebook. I had opened a account awhile back , but they seem to use it a lot. Didn't realize how many people that I know are on there, even some suspicious forumites

How does facebook come up with the Friends Suggestions ? The box on the right ? It is suggesting I become friends with people I am not even sure I know, and some are people I do know, but don't have any mutual friends. Is there a way to find out why they suggest certain people ? One of these people are Gratlog

Not certain Magic but it might be from your contacts list from your email account jordmike That's a good point. I don't have a Facebook account (not likely either, once your in you can't delete your account) however my 14yro signed up last week using my personal email account with my permission. This allows me to view the people who are joining his Facebook (via emails to me) these in the main are family, relations or school friends. Interestingly a few of my friends i(over 60) have slipped through the net and this can only be through my email he has provided.
