Dear InTheKnow ,

I am writing to ask for your support and assistance in our ongoing campaign for the NSW Government to implement the recommendations of an independent enquiry it commissioned on wagering and the future sustainability of the NSW racing industry.
The long term financial viability of the racing industry in NSW is dependent on it having the ability and the incentives to compete on at least equal terms to other States. This involves embracing a culture of promoting and rewarding innovation, growth and performance and liberalising the legislative regime.
Importantly, Alan Cameron who conducted the enquiry recommended that the NSW Government intervene and change the way TAB funding is shared between the three codes. The difference in what we receive and what we should be receiving means that greyhounds sponsor the two horse codes by around $8 million a year.
The NSW Government must act and act now to implement the recommendations of the Cameron enquiry to secure Greyhound racing’s future.
If the Minister for Gaming and Racing Mr. Kevin Greene misses this opportunity, the future sustainability of the racing and wagering industry in NSW will be in severe doubt. Greyhound Racing NSW is leaving no stone unturned in its endeavours to make this happen but we need your help now.
GRNSW has today launched www.ourfairshare.com.au, your one stop shop for everything you need to know about what is at stake and how you can help.
Show the Minister how important it is for these changes to be made and what they mean to you by signing on the on-line petition. You can go a step further and contact him yourself – his office’s details are on the website.
GRNSW is dedicated to providing you with the best product, facilities and administration humanly possible so it makes unquestionable sense that we, as a collective community, fight for the betterment of our beloved sport.
Now is the time for Kevin Greene to show the leadership needed to ensure that Alan Cameron’s recommendations are implemented in their entirety without further delay. This is where you can make a difference – a big difference.
Yours faithfully,

Professor Percy Allan AM
