PHELAN READY won the Magic Millions and the Golden Slipper earlier this year. He then failed in the AJC Sires.
Since the Summer, PR's trainer Bruce McLachan has left us. The horse is now in the hands of Bruce's son, Jason, who was previously in a training partnership with his Dad.
PR resumes at Rosehill today in the Premiere.
What are we to expect from PR this campaign? Will he take the extra step which is required for 3yos to remain in the top bracket? Or will he join the long list of MM and Slipper winners who quickly fade from the limelight?

Dunno if there were excuses, but the Slipper winner looked unimpressive yesterday.

Awful run, but I doubt if they will find anything. Looked mental to me because of the way it fired up midrace wanting to climb over the ones ahead and then just would not put in from the corner.
“Disappointing. When I asked for an effort he found nothing,” said Brad Rawiller, rider of Phelan Ready (14th).
Funny animals, some horses. This one needs a shrink.

Was all ready for him to start chasing the leaders down but nothing happened.

From the stewards report
post race veterinary examination of Phelan Ready revealed the gelding to be displaying post race distress, a poor post race recovery, to have abraded both hind bumpers and to have sustained speedy cuts to the inside of the offside hock.

Gear should be shown in race-book, GT.
CHANGES are shown in the press, to my knowledge.

This so called 'group 1 performer' was very dissapointing yesterday.
I am guessing as is the case with a lot of slipper winners - he has had his day in the sun.
