Top Brisbane rider Jim Byrne will represent Australia in the 5th KRA International Jockey Invitational Series in Seoul this weekend.

He is among six overseas jockeys in the Rest Of The World team taking on Korea's best riders.

Gold Coast based Byrne, who has been Brisbane's champion jockey four times, will be joined in on the international team by Richard Fourie (South Africa), Luis Garcia (US), Tetsuya Kobayashi (Japan), Pat Shanahan (Ireland) and Gokhan Yildiz (Turkey).

The home team will miss current champion jockey Moon Se Young, who is out for the rest of the season but they will be led by Park Tae Jong, who has won twice as many races as any other Korean rider in history.

Always been a top rider. 5 is  noteworthy
Heard a radio interview once that was very good where he talked about his upbringing & how he wanted to be a jockey.

Had a very good day today 4 winners and imo two of them wouldn't have won without him.....Racing Heart & Lucky Dubai.

Best rider in Brisbane by a long way imo.

If so not a great endorsement of the riding ranks up there!

Let's see - D. Browne was in Melbourne today riding 'Goldilocks' in the Toorak.  Technically he is based on the Sunshine Coast so he is not a Brisbane rider per se.  I guess Rob in conjunction with the owners had his choice of riders and went for D. Browne ahead of all others in a G1 race.  Browne did not let them down, simply not up to it, 'Goldilocks'.

Jimmy often thrives this time of year but you don't hear much about him come carnival time up there do you?

How many more G1 winners has he ridden than C. Munce?

Reckon your assertion is highly questionable Arsenal.

" highly questionable"  I don't accept that BS  but do recognise he's a big fish in a little pond....

You always get a run for your money with him and I don't remember the last time if there was one where the stewards queried his handling. love

Arsenal as Jimmy's grandfather you are entitled to your opinion, but there is no way he is a better rider than C Munce.
