This is probably covered somewhere but my Foxtel has been down for 12 hours and they cant get a technician here till Friday.

Prefer to access the computer when punting and dont really want to go to TAB or Pub, is there anywhere I can watch the races live on the internet.

Thanks

I think its the same neverending story.  We had problems a couple of weeks ago, again. censored

My dad has been with them for 16 years, and never once have we received a courtesy call or anything.

Yet all these "new" customers get the IQ thrown in for free or the Happy EOFYS specials.

Its a joke, and we pay over $100 for a package (though non existent now) a month to use their network!

Those companies that reward new customers with sweeteners to 'get them in' are merely shooting themselves in the foot longterm. The old style companies looked after their long term customers but the new companies just want to get you in & then screw you over.

Does anyone have a problem with Austar reception? I'm not sure how they hooked it up but I thought they said they were hooking the 'free to air' through their Austar system. I am finding sometimes that the TV screen goes blank(black) few a few seconds when on free to air but doesn't do that with the Austar channels.  tears Seems to not happen at all for weeks & then keep happening for a couple days.  chin

True El Zoro.  Dad is going to call Foxtel on Monday to try again.  Its like all they care about is getting new customers.  One of the oldest principles in the book of business and marketing is to build on your relationship with your existing customer, because that is your best source of income.

If Foxtel had common sense they would try and invest in their existing customers of say over 15 years and try and offer them something more.

Foxtel is a dreadful outfit. It has own complaints dept. They call it "Customer Ädvocacy". What does that tell you?

Recently they tried to operate a direct debit from our back account a day early. When it didn't go through they pulled the plug on us. It took a week to get back on again. The Customer Service people were rude, off hand and totally unhelpful.

Their Customer Advocacy people were a bit better.

The people who make the decisions regarding your account are called Account Management. You can't get to talk to them, they don't take calls.

Just realised I am still getting Foxtel on my TV in the bedroom
Must be an issue with the DVD recorder rather than Foxtel  chin

We did lose foxtel signal for around ten minutes last night.

yesterday we had two more digital boxes put in and I thought that might have caused problems but it was the storm causing problems.

I need some advice here folks.

Rang up to disconnect yesterday. Was offered $53 per month for sports, sky racing package and normal foxtel.

Rang up today at 6.50pm Syd time as they shut at 7pm, was told that there is a hours waiting time by answering service when there is call waiting and I will get a call back within 2-3 working days as they are the only ones who help and they have a hrs waiting time. Asked to speak to a team leader who turned out not to be a team leader who said the Disconnection Team can't call back after 7pm because they are closed. She also advised they would continue to bill regardless so I decided to get rid of my direct debit so I can't billed any more. Then she also said I would also have to pay $300 if I don't make arrangements for them to pick up the box when I disconnect. I asked for the contract and she said I have to visit the site for the contract as the person who negotiated the contract over the phone would have said that. I asked for the recording of my initial contract and was advised I would have to speak to Legal as it may not exist but the terms are always there on the website. Then I got transferred to a team leader who hung up on me because I used the term "Malarkey" when she said queues are quite short.

So now I have decide to lodge a complaint but the question is with whom Foxtel and / or the Telecommunication Ombudsmen or take up the initial offer. I am quite annoyed about the crap Foxtel does and especially if they take over Austar.

Jeunes
I could only suggest you ask to be put directly through to disconnections and complsin to them about the poor customer relations.

What is the date of your billing cycle and do you really want to cancel or are you after a better deal ?. The process usually goes - not interested  in your deal put me through to disconnections they can offer a better deal than the first person you spoke with, if not happy goes through with a date for them to collect the boxes, if you have a dish they will leave it there.  A couple of day before the pick up you will get a call from the retentions section who will offer you a better deal still and this depends what you are after. If you fed up with foxtel and the crap they show (who isn't) then just tell them to collect the gear.  If anyone is after a better beal it is best to ring them the day after your current billing date allowing them 28 days to to offer something better.  Having said all that the guys over at whirlpool say foxtel is playing tough probably because of the footy season.

I threatened to disconnect last year and they offered me a good deal to stay. It was in place for 6 months.
That has now finished and I have reverted to the old excessive charges.

Will they discount me again if I threaten to disconnect or will they call my bluff?

Anyone had experience with this?

Not sure during the footy season, you have to call their bluff and hopefully get a call from retentions before they collect the gear, you can always say the day before you've changed your mind, in which case they called your bluff.
