A punter has backed Vinery stallion Benicio to win $250,000 in Sportingbet Australia’s first season sire betting market for the 2009/10 season.
Sportingbet took the bet of $2,500 at $101 and have tightened the Victoria Derby winner’s price into $81.
“It’s a massive go for a boutique betting market like this,” Sportingbet Australia’s Bill Richmond said.
Benicio's first trial starter, Benavarro, looked a likely prospect when beating older rivals in an 880m trial at Muswellbrook on September 9.
The horse is being aimed at NSW's first two-year-old race of the season at Tamworth on October 2.

Golden Slipper winner Stratum is the $2.20 favourite in the first season sires market ahead of Snitzel at $5.50 and Jet Spur at $6.
Darley freshman sire Domesday has also attracted long-shot support, firming from $151 to $67.

Be careful it's based on the most INDIVIDUAL winners NOT the biggest total amount of winners.
Last year Fastnet Rock opened $1.14 fav as he had 240 odd foals on the ground but still lost.
