Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice ex Snippets’ Lass by Snippets) unveiled two 2YO trial winners, from his only two runners at Rosehill on Friday morning.
Heat 4 for 2YO Fillies over 900m saw the Paul Messara trained Milanesa (ex Sheerama by Catbird) score a good victory whilst in the following heat for colts and geldings (also over 900m) had the Gerald Ryan trained Intertidal (ex Miss Rainmaker by Hurricane Sky) win his trial in an impressive fashion.
“She’s always shown ability and she still has improvement in her fitness-wise,” says trainer Paul Messara of Milanesa - a $230,000 purchase by the Arrowfield Training Centre from Kulani Park’s draft at the 2009 Magic Millions Premier sale.  “I’ll aim her at a Randwick race on the 17th of this month.”
Ryan was also positive in his praise for Intertidal’s effort.  “He’s a very nice young horse who is improving with every gallop,” he said after the run. “He’ll have his first start at Rosehill on Saturday week.”
A record-breaking 2YO son of Redoute’s Choice, Snitzel was a Group 1 winner in his classic season of the Oakleigh Plate (beating World Champion Sprinter Takeover Target by 4 lengths and G1 winner Miss Andretti by 6).
Snitzel’s first crop yearlings sold to $400,000 and averaged $86,864 at the 2009 Australasian majors with many of these now in the stables of some of the country’s leading trainers. The young stallion currently has 29 named 2YO’s from his first crop of 87 live foals.
Arrowfield’s Bloodstock Manager, Jon Freyer, made the following comments of the trial winners: “Snitzel is certainly showing every indication of fulfilling his promise as a sire of precocious two-year old’s. He was an extraordinarily talented 2YO sprinter in his own right and his progeny appear to have inherited his raw ability.”
Snitzel stands at Arrowfield Stud at a fee of $22,000 (incl. GST)
