LEADING apprentice jockey Brent Evans will tomorrow front stewards after testing positive to a banned substance.

Evans, one of the state's most promising apprentice riders, provided a urine sample at the Pakenham races on September 29 which returned a positive swab.



The 19-year-old, who came to prominence after a hot run in Queensland earlier this year, moved to Cranbourne to ride for Mick Kent at the start of the season and has ridden 16 winners.

 As i said what a SHAME, hOWEVER I Have just also realised, it is the DOPES 2ND time Caught slaphead slaphead slaphead slaphead slaphead slaphead

I used to smoke the old hoochie dury weed and that was whenst I was in the army. Perhaps that explains some stuff...........

I am annoyed more than anything. He has so much potential and has ridden more than one of mine. Has everything going for him and now this!

Yes I agree very frustrating............but he is very young (I assume as an apprentice) and although this is apperantly his second time I hope he is not chucked onto the scrap heap.

But I tend not to relax whilst any race is on with my hard earned going around............

Top apprentice sidelined on 'ice' charge

A boom apprentice has been suspended for two months after returning a positive sample to the illicit drug known as “ice”.

Brent Evans was randomly tested by Racing Victoria stewards at the Pakenham meeting held on September 28 which subsequently returned a positive reading for the banned substances d,I-amphetamine and I-methamphetmine.

The former Queenslander fronted a Racing Victoria hearing on Tuesday to answer the charge, with stewards finding Evans guilty and banning him until December 21.

Evans has since provided a clean urine sample to Racing Victoria and will be allowed to ride trackwork and in trials.

He has ridden 11 city winners this season and boasts a 22 percent strike in town.

Just watched an interview with Brent Evans.
It wont be long before he returns another positive.
