[ ERROR: SPECIFIED ATTACHMENT MISSING ]

New Page

Anyone active on this forum at present will through the next few days have an opinion on the Cup, and I’m sure play around with their own trifecta combinations.

x

Well let’s see if we can’t have some fun and combine both.

1.  Nominate you top 3 selections for the Cup, with a 2 line or more form reason why.

x

2.  Nominate your $50 Rover Banker trifecta – your top pick to rover as the banker with 5 to 7 other selections.

x

$100 Rover Banker Trifecta on offer on the Emirates on the last day (Sat week) of the carnival for the winner (your selections, 50/50).

Winning criteria will be

1.  Your top pick finishes 1st, 2nd or 3rd (so it’s a successful rover)

x

2.  You successfully get the trifecta correct

x

3.  The highest % return for your $50

x

4. You must write a two line form reason for each selection

x

Entries close 10am Eastern Tuesday.

This is an example of how to enter (copy and post the format if you wish).

A. Nominate your top 3 selections, and a 2 line form reason why. Your top selection becomes your Rover.

1. Alcopop
Looks untaped, a stayer on the up with no weight. A rare stayer with brilliant accelration. Has won all 4 starts this prep, last two blowing them away, the last by 1.3 lengths over 2400 at Caulfield. Should get a nice run mid field from his draw, has to be the one to beat.

2. Viewed
Class stayer, won it last yr and looks cherry ripe for this. Won the Caulfield Cup, lovely pipe opener in the Mackinnon, carries Bart's magical touch, should be stalking them into the straight from his nice draw, sure to be in the finish.

3. Roman Emperor
4 yr old AJC Derby winner who comes through the classic Caulfield Cup form line finishing 2nd to stable mate Viewed. Should push forward and race just behind the speed, should also be improved from his Caulfield run and be there and abouts down the home straight.

B. Your $50 Rover Banker trifecta

11 Rover
1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 15, 18, 21

Viewed - Going way better than he was this time last year, and he won it last year. Got 5kg more or whatever but hes easily a 5kg better horse this time in. Should be carrying 59kg (because Efficient is out) and with Bart's polish, hard to see him not being in the finish. Cantered into a place in the Mackinnon behind a few who were out to win the race. I've no doubt in my mind at set weights hed beat Alcopop pretty easily but thats the beauty of the handicap. Should be somewhere in the finish.

Daffodil - Fair bit went wrong for her in the Caulfield Cup, but she still showed the heart to run it out right to the line. Has recoverd 100% and looks to have been a nice trial.

Master O'Reilly -  Going real well, if Duric can negotiate the barrier he should be hitting the line as hard as anything. Fair swing at the weights on Viewed and C'est from last year, where he was a little unlucky, should have got the 3rd.

1 - 2, 4, 6, 11, 20, 21, 22

18. Basaltico
Trainer knows what he's doing. Given it the hit out here, it will be better for that and as the money suggests he seems to pick the right ones and improve them. Might be the one that spoils the obvious party.

Thanks triples  Thumb Up

1. Viewed: Appears to be going better than at the same stage last year, and trainer sells himself. Might need a little luck coming from rearward but is rated on top.

2. Alcopop: Lightly raced but with formidable strike rate. Dominant performance last start and looks well weighted to make the rise to Group 1 level. Inexperience with trainer and jockey are a concern.

3. Roman Emperor: Trainer stated that the horse has improvement in him after last start 2nd in the Caulfield Cup.Appears to be an emerging staying star and drawn to be competitive. Poor strike rate and wide draw against him.

1. C'est La Guerre
I think Llyodie has been playing games with this fellow. Been set for this race for 2 years. He ran a bottler early in his campaign this time in and I think every other subsequent start has just been to keep him ticking over / iron some bugs out.
I liked the acceleration he showed in the Caulfied Cup from the 1000m to the 400m and then I'm not sure how much he was allowed to try from that point on. Maybe it was a back injury? Who Knows with Teams Williams but it's smells like Efficient '07 all over again. Early Cup Favourite, runs a bottler early in the campaign and then goes horrible until Cup Day.

I just see N. Hall giving him the perfect run just wost then midfield, peel out out on the turn, amble up to them and then go "bang" at the clock tower and race away and win by 3. Lloydie will come out in the papers the next day with some story how he "got him going again" by galloping him up a hill, over logs, blind folded or something similarly as ridiculous

2. Munsef
Purely a guess but an International more often then not seems to fill a place at odds. I know he is a 100 years old and there is a Big question mark on the class he has been contesting but he has been in the money and he drops a lot in weight. Purton Rides from a nice barrier. Ticks enough boxes for a 50-1 shot for mine

3.Master O'Reilly
This bloke would run home at the end of the Tour De France. But at least you know what you get with him. He has run some great races at WFA this time in and will be getting past plenty of tired ones in the straight and could run into the placings.

Mourilayn- an exposed international who is fairly weighted and one of the few horses running in the cup coming off a win. South Africans arent known for there generosity, so i doubt Herman Brown would waste his time or money bringing him out if not a winning chance. Shcofield has ridden him in most of his work and gives me the Thumb Up

Shocking- whats not to like. C Brown on aboard out to make ammends for Bauer last year. Mark Kavanagh the trainer is overdue for some luck in a big race, another last start winner and double figure odds. Goes well at Flemington, a  mate of mine owns him.

Alcopop- cinderella story of the spring and backs that up with an imposing win strike rate, albeit in lesser grade. Has jumped every hurdle put in front of him and despite an unusual preperation has the turn of foot and the lightweight of a potential cup winner.

Rover Mourilyan with
Others 1,6,9,14,15,20,23,24.

have a great day and hope we all; can find a winner or two biggrin

I'll do it a little differently (dunno whether it's a legal enrty)

Internationals
All in or all out? All out.

Nzedders
All in or all out? All out although that  means Daffodil.

Exclude those without recent good form,  doubt at distance, or Lloyd

That leaves
1-4-6-11-14-21

Must settle on three

Viewed- great recent form.
Proven at distance.

Alcopop- Great recent form.
Good turn of foot, by a Cup winner.

Master O'Reilly- Wily just has to be right about something
Good recent form

Viewed is the class runner and in top form.Trained by master trainer Bart Cummings he has had the traditional cup winning preparation and will be a big surprise if he doesn't look the winner at some stage.Only drawback if there is one they'll be gunning for him and Brad Rawiller will need to be at his vigilant best.

Alcopop trained over the border in a rural setting Inmam Valley near Victor Harbour in SA has the best of both horse worlds, excellent environs make a happy horse and he has done everything right since his racetrack debut on Melb Cup day last year winning 7 of his 10 starts.Demolished a strong field over 2400 last time on 10 Oct which is a long time between runs. Not a Bart Cummings prep but the trainer may have it right. One negative is the inexperienced jockey, still I think he's a certain placegetter with a good weight.

Finding it hard to pick one away from the top two most have lots of convictions and unknown in this country or unproven at the distance.Go for Daffodil ran a fair race in the Caulfield Cup has won at 2400 has a good weight and a keen jockey in Hong Kong Chris .

Rover 11 Alcopop
with 1,2,4,5,6,20,21.

Looks like no result folks.

Wenona, Calgary and myself had the right numbers, each nominating the 3 placegetters, but we each missed the rover.  Sad And I, like Calgary was filthy, but such is the Cup!!  beer
