How Noonan has let Williams retain the rides on her after the sloughtering on Cup day I really dont know, but from the good gate Ortensia will go very close. The drop back in distance (although it suits) is the only concern for me.
A higlight in a pretty shitty day for me..

Sporty you've lost it. Saying Ortensia had every possible hope that day you've absolutely lost it mate, nobody who knows a thing about the game will tell you she had every hope that day, and I didnt even back her.

And also, I'm sure there were plenty of other top Melb jocks who would have flown to ride her. Anyhow Williams rode her a beauty today.

Think i was pretty much right here, basiccily if the pace was on Ortensia would be very hard to beat.

Watch the replay as I'm struggling to believe if you've actually seen the race or not. Look when she gets out and how long in the straight she's only cantering.. Of course the orse on the outside who's had all day to wind up is gonne win when she only has 50m to wind up. Even if you were to say she was seriously unlucky as some did rather than blame the ride it would make sense. Unbelievable.

Sporty is right she got out in plenty of time at Flemington.
The truth is she doesnt run 1400m strongly, there have been at least 3 occasions at 1400 where she has been very weak in the last 50m. Runing her in a mile race was a joke.

Geez Anti this is some surprise. Maybe she doesnt get 1400 but she still should have won there. Clearly just trying to piss me off.

To be fair to Mark that defeat had a lot to do with Strawberry Field having unimpeded momentum. If Ortensia had an unimpeded run to the line her momentum would have carried her to victory that day, Strawberry Field would not have caught her.
I also agree she does not run 1400m in the best company but the Cup day company was hardly vintage.

Have no idea of what was chasing her, but Ortensia was very impressive, IMO.
Hope we see her back in Sunny (read hot, humid) Queensland next year.
