Stats tell a story.

It has been of some concern to me why such a Top trainer hardly has a runner in actual races.

The stable numbers at Randwick ?   Maybe somebody could enlighten me.

Forget about the Vic Spring Carnival as an excuse.....she didn't have that many there.

....and...she does trek off at times during a season of racing.

Surely it should be business as usual at Randwick, irrespective of Gai's presence.

Other training regimes seem unaffected by such diversions.

So look at this record for November as it nears completion.

From Nov1 till today Nov 27 (incl)....(w)win......(p) placed

City runners.....13....

Emotional Outburst
Golden Orient
Modonna
Exceedingly Happy
Herculian Prince
Devil's Arcade (w)
I Won't Dance
Joku (p)
Merensky Reef (p)
Shadow Assassin(p)
Emotional Outburst(w)
Modonna(p)
Stratofortress

Provincial Runners......7

Seventh Reason(P)
Rockwood
Powerage(P)
Exceedingly Happy(W)
Hidden Gem(W)
Common Objective
Seventh Reason (W)

BARRIER TRIALS......49

6 nov....6
13 nov.....13
20 nov...6

27 nov...24 at WYONG......did she charter a russian cargo plane? or Maybe she has shares in a float business.
Seems a very costly business to me.

Trials them she does, no TJ is she.

Long way to go before they are out on their own Duke, although I have heard one interviewed and he came across well.

It's Gai who has the problem.....the line may die with her.

What's this got to do with now, the whole reason you started this thread  what

Waterhouse is a Randwick specialist who through sheer weight of numbers (and salesmanship) , normally has some good 2yo's on the books. Most of these are then flogged as a 3yo (remember Tempest Morn) and are nowhere to be seen as older horses.

She still hasn't won one of the Big Three - MC, CP, CC and until she does, can hardly be regarded as one of the truely great trainers.

Manhattan Rain poised to take next step after sizzling trial

http://www.smh.com.au/sport/horseracing/manhattan-rain-poised-to-take-next-step-after-sizzling-trial-20100129-n42x.html

I think his achievements in the Spring were understated.

A Sires winner who ran 3rd in the Guineas Prelude (behind Demerit), 3rd in the Caulfield Guineas (Star Spangled Banner) and 2nd in the Cox Plate (So You Think) from only 3 runs in the spring. This in a 3yo year that many are saying is very high quality.

Stewards Report
When questioned, App. K Nestor, rider of Horizons, stated his instructions were to lead, but he was not entirely happy with the way the filly travelled early, before it broke down badly near the 550m. The Club's Veterinary Officer reported Horizons possibly suffered a severe pelvic injury and collapsed and died. The filly was sent for necropsy. Stable representative Ms T Rouse advised that, whilst Horizons had been given the spring off to mature, it has had no soundness problems and undertook to provide the full veterinary records for the filly

Something just not right with this stable, maybe they have had a virus go through?? you just cannot count on her horses running 2 races alike anymore?? she still has winners, just can't rely on them, trouble is you can't rely on them to get beaten either, so you can't lay them

Very dissapointing result for Sydney racing yet again with very small fields tonight.
Gai could only manage to get 1 of the 150 odd she has  in work to the races.
Good for racing in some ways - not so good in others
