Was wondering what happened to young Willie and it dawned on me he was outed for three years for being sprung with drugs in his riding gear at the Gold Coast races early in 2008.He was talking appeal but don't remember seeing it or if it went ahead with what result. what

In my opinion he was a real good rider, A shame he could not stay clean.

Hopefully he can sort himself out.

Pearson cops a month for false evidence
Dallas Baker
Monday, 13 December 2010

The chequered career of jockey Willie Pearson continued at Newcastle on Saturday after he again found himself in hot water with the stewards.

Pearson made a rare visit to Broadmeadow to ride on Saturday and left with a month on the sidelines.

He incurred two suspensions, one under AR 175(g) for providing false evidence to the stewards and another under AR 175(a) in weighing out without a safety vest in order to make Calypso Crusin’s weight in the fourth race.

Initially, Pearson had weighed out without a vest, claiming that was an oversight.

Pearson then returned and stated he had weighed out and ridden in another rider’s vest, which was lighter than his.

However, he later admitted to weighing out with the lighter vest, but riding in his own.

Jockeys are permitted an extra half kilogram difference when they weigh in after returning to scale, which he fell within.

The false evidence charge incurred a month's suspension, whilst weighing out without the vest cost him three weeks.

Both suspensions will be served concurrently, with Pearson able to ride again on January 17.

Finished 5th, beaten 2 lengths.

Not sure if you have to weigh in when running fifth at Newcastle ?

Makes you wonder if the horse would have finished closer if he wasn't over weight chin

Only beaten 2 lengths, isn't far from the winner, especially when the jocks knows what penalty awaits him what

Just wondering if stewards take that into account, and look at the jockeys ride, and question it, or if they just concern themselves with him being overweight ?

Maybe one to back next start
