Injury has forced leading Sydney rider Glyn Schofield out of Saturday’s Villiers Stakes meeting at Randwick.

Schofield was aboard the Anthony Cummings-trained Plastic Fantastic at Monday’s Warwick Farm brarrier when the juvenile dislodged him before standing on his foot.

“He had all the scans done yesterday and he’s got a crack in the heel,” Schofield’s manager Mark Van Triet said.

“He went and saw a specialist this morning and it’s not as bad as first feared but it looks like he’ll be out of action for a fortnight.”

The injury has caused Schofield to forfeit a strong book at Randwick on Saturday including the last start winner Palacio De Cristal in the Group II Villiers and smart mare Court in the Listed Razor Sharp Stakes.

“His momentum has really been building the last few weeks so the timing isn’t ideal but at least he won’t be out of play for too long,” Van Triet said.

Schofield hopes to be back in action at Randwick on Boxing Day and while Van Triet concedes that may be “touch and go”, the South African born jockey will be back for the Magic Millions extravaganza on the Gold Coast.

“He’s totally confident that he’ll be back to ride Latin News in the Magic Millions three-year-old race,” Van Triet said.
