Another of my dogs makes it to the races for the first time tomorrow--Storm Bolt running in a Juvenile at Devonport Race 2 Tab 1.  Reckon he is a huge chance to finish in the first 8

Back in the 70's a live bunny cost $1 and a possum was $30.

I have a family of possums in my roof and keep thinking if they are a big part of my super if I opt to sell them to the trial track owners.

Inflation for the bunnys, were $5 and bigfellas around $50 to $60 a few years back ............. or so I'm told

Geld him ?

Doesn't work Matt.

What has worked for a few is racing onto the finish on lure, plenty of iffy chasers go to NZ now to continue their career.

The system they use in NZ where the dogs are actually allowed to catch the lure at the finish--not any better tonight running a long last

I don't pay much attention these days sobig so wasn't sure if the trial at Albion Park was brought in fulltime, good move imho if it has   Thumb Up

Matt - A finish on lure is where the lure is slowed gradually in the back straight allowing the dogs to catch it. This does away with the need to use the catching pen, thus reducing the injuries dogs receive pulling up so abruptly.

It has been used on trial tracks for years, where a dead rabbit (perfectly legal) is used on the arm and the dog allowed to catch it, good for iffy chasers as you can drag them around the track a few times while they have a dig at the lure, hopefully switching them on for the next start etc chin
