STEWARDS REPORT

DEAGON OFFICE – THURSDAY, 7 JANUARY 2010

Queensland Racing Limited (QRL) Stewards today continued the inquiry adjourned from the Gold Coast Turf Club meeting on Saturday, December 26, 2009 into the actions of jockey R. McMahon on HASLINGTON (NZ) approaching and rounding the home turn in race four, the Master Floor Preparers Maiden C, G &E Maiden Handicap 1400m.

After taking evidence from J. Morrisey, trainer of HASLINGTON (NZ), G. Baker, rider of the winner COMING UP TRUMPS, and further evidence from R. McMahon, jockey R. McMahon was found guilty of a charge under AR.137(a) relating to improper riding.

Stewards alleged that his action of moving HASLINGTON (NZ) wider on the track, thus presenting the opportunity for COMING UP TRUMPS to take the run to the inside of SINGIN THE BLUES rather than avail HASLINGTON (NZ) of that run, was improper.

R. McMahon was found guilty of the charge and his licence to ride was suspended for three (3) months from midnight Sunday, January 10, 2010 and is to expire at midnight Saturday, April 10, 2010.
