Top six in Fixed Odds, let's see how many start
SECESSION ROULETTES ELIMBARI SHES GOT GEARS STAR WITNESS SWEET CHEEKS
All but one start, one on third line, one on fourth line of betting, three now out of the window.

Cmon DD, huge run the winner who in the straight went right past him giving him a start. Deserved it undeniably imo.

Looking again at the tape, I have no doubt Benetau should have won clearly.
No question the winner was impressive, but run the race again - some would want to change the postillion - and Benetau wins, IMO.

Only if he behaved himself better in the straight.
Was that Ganerton's fault, or his?
I dunno.

Ran about badly in the straight and cost himself a win

It is easy to look at a run in isolation and say Beneteau would have won with a better ride.
Have another look at the winner and if he had been able to take the bend better would have won by further.
The winner was the best performance imo.

The winner had a nice run in transit - sure it wobbled around the bend - but Benetau's mid-race problems were more significant, IMO.
We'll never know.

I agree with you DD, I also thought Willow Creeks effort was very good.

I think in all of the posts the runner up has been totally underestimated. To the lead too soon in my opinion - but might have been a victim of circumstances given the way the race was run Talking through my pocket

I find the whole race very hard to get excited about. By about the AJC Sires I'm beginning to get interested in the 2YO's.

Could not agree more. I've watched the race 10 times and the winner won it every time. No excuses for anything that finished behind - and that means the rest of them. If he learns to go around a bend and can adapt to the Sydney way of going, he'll win the Slipper.

Absolute dud race. This will be another in the long line of Blue Diamand winners who never amount to much. They went ridiculously hard. Gandertons ride on Benetau was all right because along with Hall he was one of the few who judged the pace properly.
It was put on for the winner who ran the slowest last 600 of any winner on the day which is unheard of for a horse that came from last making up 8 lengths in a 1200m race.
Star Witness will never beat Shaaheq or Psychologist at 1200 again.
