The Qld Govt has absorbed all the administrative tribunals in Qld into a new body QCAT thus the Racing Appeals Tribunal is no longer operating as a separate body.
According to Bart Sinclair in today's CM it appears there are long delays in dealing with matters previously dealt with by the RAT.Why this should be so ,is not apparent
Not that I think the RAT was any model organisation but I cannot understand why this new body would work even slower than its predecessor.
Bart quotes the case of a trainer Dq'd in November/December,who has to wait until March for his appeal to be heard ,apparently only against the severity of the sentence, and in the meantime has been granted a stay pending appeal.
I understand the only member of the defunct RAT making it to QCAT is Brock Miller,Leo Williams passed away and Denis Stanfield isn't on the new list. Can't recall who the replacements are tho.

Another complaint is that reasons for decisions from the first level appeals committee aren't publicly available .Why the Act requires this secrecy has never been revealed.
