Hi guys,

Am planning a month-long holiday in Brisbane, starting Feb 21 and returning to NZ on March 20.

Any decent race meetings on in Brisbane during that period, can someone point me to a winner or two?

It would be difficult to be an "ITEM" with Sunline since she was unfortunately put down last year. It seems she has 2 racing and 2 yet to race, but it appears no champions like she was.
It would not surprise if Makybe Diva progeny rate similarly.

Leith Innes turned down a winning mount in a Group III race on Saturday but had no regrets over the decision.

The Auckland jockey decided to ride at Te Rapa rather than at the premier meeting at Awapuni, where he had been offered the ride on High Octane in the Manawatu Cup.

Innes had to watch High Octane win the $70,000 feature from the Te Rapa jockeys' room but by that stage had already notched four wins for the day.

Innes won the two open class races at Te Rapa, on Spin Around and Antipodean, but the win that gave him the greatest pleasure was Sun Ruler's narrow victory over his half-sister and stablemate Sunstrike in the rating 70 1200.

Sun Ruler and Sunstrike are the first foals from champion mare Sunline to race and there was just a nose between them.

"It was amazing that they ran first and second," Innes said. "It was a real thrill to be part of it. It was almost a dead-heat but on the line I was pretty confident I had got up."

Sun Ruler, a $2 million yearling, is a four-year-old but has had only seven starts and had not raced since April. He has now won twice and Innes is confident that the Zabeel entire will make the grade.

"He has grown up a lot and when did you last see a Zabeel win over 1200 metres?" Innes said. "There has been a bit of pressure on him [because of his pedigree] but he has always shown a lot.

"He ran time yesterday, after drawing wide, and really got to the line."

Sun Ruler and Sunstrike are trained by Stephen McKee, who also trained their famous dam.

McKee will also prepare Sunline's last two foals - Sunalta, a three-year-old by Rock of Gibraltar and Sunsett, a two-year-old Hussonet filly.

Sunalta had two trials last autumn and is due to trial again while Sunsett has been educated and turned out.

Sunline, who won 32 races and earned more than $13 million, was put down in May, aged 13, after being crippled by laminitis.

Nine-year-old Spin Around carried 60kg in the restricted open 2100m on Saturday and is now as short as $10 for the City Of Auckland Cup (2400m) at Ellerslie on January 1.
