Well after today's effort I think he deserves his own post.

The theory is you can only win, but of course you can make your opposition look very average - that he did.

He wasn't missed by too many on his debut and followed up today. Gave them a flogging - by 7 lengths. Wasn't flash away, 4L off them at the turn, he just skipped away in the straight.

Interestingly he's not nommed in the Aust Guineas. Surely he'll be nommed for Sydney features.

I saw Linton in the flesh for the first time last Friday night and concluded he'd need another 12 months. He's like a big gangly kid. He'll win his fair share of races in between because he's got talent, but his best is yet to come.

No good Elvis - what a crazy day when Linton is one of the lesser wins of the day.

Lloyd's been wanting to take a good one OS - he thought it was Efficient - maybe it's this guy - he's so promising.

Presume he is skipping next week with him because he knows Mourayan is a cert.  tongue

I don't get it - they don't want a 7 day back up - but they are prepared to run him 3 days before a possible Melbourne Cup start in Lexus.

I wonder I wonder - I have a sneaking suspicion - and I hope I'm wrong - that the promise he showed in the autumn wont ever be realised.

Might they have pushed him too far - maybe he's not a stayer. Jock said after he won at Caulfield he was too immature for MC this year - connections kept saying he was a year away then pushed on and on - including 3 day back up - did Team Williams desire to win MC with other stablemates falling by wayside force this gun to go around ?

Was he pushed out at the finish ?

He was beaten 35 lengths, I reckon the jock would have eased him down once he was beaten.

Its should not have hurt him.

it's a Melbourne Cup, you don't look for reasons to run, that's a given, if there are no reasons not to run then you run!! a week is a long time in racing, what if he thought Efficient would be better as a 5 year old and didn't run as a 4 year old??? he went wrong as a 5 year old and as a 6 year old and as a 7 year old, sometimes you only get one chance, you have to have a crack cos there is no guarantee about the next year, especially if there is no reason not to run, if you are there next year then you go again, and again as with Zipping, shamed you couldn't put Efficients ability and Zippings durability in the one horse they would have won 4 Cups by now and made Makybe Diva look like a cream puff!

The daming statement is they were openly worried about a 7 day back up only a fortnight ago.

yes but that wasn't into the Melbourne Cup was it?? if they backed him up and it won but finished it from  Melbourne Cup point of View they would be disappointed, backing it up into the Cup wasn't the same risk, he was going to the paddock the next day anyway
