I've seen occasional questions on other threads regarding travel.

What's it like there?  How do you get there?  Where is the racetrack? etc

Let's see if there's any demand for a dedicated thread.

I'm planning a short visit to Cook Islands in April.

Anyone got any tips regarding travel and accommodation?

Taking kids?  If so, a MUST is the bus to Anaheim to Disneyland!  Not just for kids.  Fabulous place and one day you will only scratch the surface.  Is a couple of hours drive out of LA..................Disneyland Hotel to die for if you want to stay overnight in Anaheim.

If all that bores you to death and no kids, hop on a plane and go to Vegas...............about 1 hour away.   Airfare cheap as chips...............like catching a bus over there!  Accommodation cheap as chips there at the moment as feeling the downtown of the economic climate very badly at present!     I stay at Bellagio (dancing waters out front) or the Venetian or Caesars Palace and they all used to be hugely expensive, but now doing fabulous deals................much much cheaper accommodation down to motel rooms if you don't want to spoil yourself..................!!!  Casinos will blow your mind!  Love love love Vegas.  Cocktail Wine Glass Cocktail Wine Glass

Re-read you will be in San Diego for a week.................might want to hire a car and drive down across the border into Mexico.......Tijuana (forget how to spell it!) ...not far away....................!  If you are leaving this Saturday, you've only got tomorrow to practice driving on the "wrong" side of the road!  bop bop bop

Spent 3 years in the states and took me a month to remember the driving thing...even harder after a night at the local...Would recommend white water rafting down the Grand Canyon. If you go to Mexico...leave the Mrs in America

Agree their coffee is undrinkable!  So is their idea of "cheese".............comes in a tube and they squeeze it on everything like they do with their bottles of mustard and tomato sauce.  Revolting!  bleh bleh
