It's not.  This is a pure sprint race, the Orr is a race for middle distance horses heading for the Australian Cup.  There are major problems with the Autumn programming in Melbourne, but this ain't one.

1400m back to 1200m,  why not encourage the sprinters?

the lead up to the Australian Cup dont have to be group 1's. and this race looks more like a guineas prelude than an Australian Cup trial.

The only obvious thing for me is what an oustanding group of short course horses we have at the moment. It really is a great group of horses.

Will be a great race to watch. Can see a horse like Wanted getting a decent behind the pace.

Or a natural lead up between the Lightning and Newmarket - depends on your view I guess.  chin

Think the Orr should be Group 2 like the other "first up 1400m WFA races"....Memsie, Liston, Warwick, Apollo, Sir Byrne Hart (??? now 1200m).

If you wanted to retain the Group 1 for Caulfield, why not have a 1100m or 1200m WFA sprint during the Cup Carnival? Seems to be a big gap there in the whole Melbourne Spring, and an oversupply of big sprints in the Summer/Autumn....IMHO.

Westie,

It was decided quite a while ago, that all group races, or races of interest would be posted in the main racing board, and for good reason.

People who do not understand how to use the All Topics, will find most posts of interest on the main board.

Where as people are less likely to click on the sub child boards

In that case the moderators should take the time to educate the existing and future members and if they don't know you should first educate them, then the membership will certainly find it much easier to navigate the forum.  Why have the various state boards if you don't want them used for important group races. just have Racing talk Australia.

I hate Child boards westie, I am sure you know that,

But another reason, which i doubt you have thought about, is those people who modify there recent topics preferences, to exclude the states that they are not interested in.

They would miss out on all the majors in that state, is that really what we want ?
