Hard to find a more exciting clash since Reset and Starcraft went hammer and tong in the same race.

If they send Manhatten Rain down, He will win.

Gai has apparently suggested he'll run in the Newmarket.

I'll be backing him if he does.

The question is, how far So You Think?

Denman is a class horse, I think if it was any other year, Denman would be a champion.

But So You Think is something else entirely!!!

Is So You Think going to Melbourne? Not nommed this weekend, which puts him (at best) resuming the weekend of 20th Feb...would be ready for the Guineas on the 6th March????

I think the key to this clash is the distance. I'd suggest that Denman would have SYT's measure over 1400 and the reverse over 2000m, but a mile maybe not quite either of their best distance. Not quite sure where Manhatten Rain fits in - would need to see him again (indeed same for SYT).

My gut feeling is Denman will get a mile, and if he does and he is in front of the other 2 at the 400 he'll take some catching.

Guineas 2nd up apparently. Makes me wonder if he really will be looking for further already and they are trying to keep him fresh, in line with my comment on the distance issue  chin

Doubt very much it's a match race. As mentioned Manhattan Rain is right up there with the best.

Don't forget Trusting...this guy looks promising.

Then Snowden has Demerit and Kidnapped, but maybe they're being aimed at another 1600M G1 race.

Manhattan Rain is an excellent and exciting 3yo but to me he is becoming the perennial birdesmaid. I'd like to actually see him beat all the big ones for once before backing him against them.

Personally I think Trusting is massively overrated - but happy to be proven wrong.

Snowden's other 2 are excellent but surely he won't have them running against himself.

My thoughts  exactly.
Personally I think Trusting is the miler of the bunch but I don't know where he is at the moment and will probably be more a peak performer in a race like the doncaster .
I think it will come down to what else is in the race (and barriers)as to whether it becomes a stamina test or a sprint or a genuine mile

I think in looking at Manhattan Rain and say a horse like Denman you're just getting  an example of how the trainers handle their horses.

MR has been in the best races from the start. Denman given a chance to work his way up.

I think Trusting looks awfully good but not sure if he'll be thrown into the deep end too quickly this autumn [eg Newmarket first up].

SSB could also end up running in the Guineas.

Don't think MR is a horse you want to back first up ?

Normally takes him a couple to hit his peak
what

edit: Probably not the correct thread  tongue

Over a mile Denman wins, but no vote from me because I think its quite likely neither will win it, even if they both line up.

That's interesting Mark - does that mean you see a specific horse to knock them off (eg Manhatten Rain), or just see them as both being a risk?
